What is collected
- Account details: your username, a password (stored hashed), and an optional display name and optional email.
- Saved study progress per course: flashcards known or still learning, quiz and mock-exam results, grade-calculator inputs and settings.
- Chat history: your questions and the answers. Questions are scanned and personal details such as emails, phone numbers and ID numbers are redacted before storage.
- Content you upload: files, pasted text, imported public links and recorded lectures that you add become private study sets.
- Technical logs needed to run and secure the service.
How long it is kept
Chat history is kept 180 days by default; the operator can configure this.
Who can see what
- You see your own progress and chat history.
- Instructors and staff see student-level progress (a Students view) and class-level insights about what students ask and where course content is missing.
Your own content
Content you upload is stored for your account only. Only your login can see it, it is never shared with other students, and you can delete it any time.
Your controls
In the app you can download all of your data and delete your uploads, or your account and all of your data, yourself.
Security and third parties
Passwords are stored hashed and sessions use secure cookies. StudyGrasp does not sell data and has no ads and no cross-site tracking. Page views are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or build personal profiles.
Institutions
Institutions should review these privacy terms and the data handling with their own privacy office. StudyGrasp does not claim FERPA or GDPR compliance or certification.
Graded work and integrity
For graded work, StudyGrasp gives hints rather than final answers and supports a course's academic-integrity policy.
